What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are prosthetic teeth that function and appear just like natural teeth. They are a long-term option for replacing missing teeth, providing both aesthetic and functional benefits. Implants consist of three essential components: a titanium post, an abutment, and a dental crown. The titanium post is surgically placed into the jawbone, where it fuses with the surrounding bone tissue through a process called osseointegration — creating a stable foundation for the crown that's then attached to the abutment.
Dental Implant Placement
Dental implant treatment is a major focus of our practice at Renaissance Dental Group. The procedure begins with a comprehensive examination of your oral health to determine if dental implants are the right option for you, followed by a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.
During placement, the titanium post is carefully inserted into the jawbone using advanced techniques to minimize discomfort and promote a faster recovery. The post is left to heal and integrate with the bone, usually taking a few months. Once fully fused, we attach the abutment and place a custom-made dental crown, completing the restoration of your missing tooth.
Benefits of Dental Implants
- Improved Oral Health — unlike dentures or bridges, implants don't rely on adjacent teeth for support, preserving natural tooth structure and preventing bone loss.
- Enhanced Aesthetics — implants look and feel like natural teeth, blending seamlessly with your existing smile.
- Restored Functionality — eat, speak and chew with ease, with the stability to enjoy all your favorite foods.
- Built to Last — with proper care, dental implants are designed for long-term durability.
Treatment Options We Discuss With You
Every case is different. Depending on how many teeth are missing and your bone and gum health, one or more of these approaches may be discussed at your evaluation — the right option for you is determined case by case, not before then.
Single Implant & Crown
An option to replace one missing tooth with a single implant and crown, in cases where the surrounding bone can support it.
Connected Crowns or a Fixed Bridge
Depending on the case, a small number of missing teeth may be addressed with connected crowns or a fixed bridge anchored by one or more implants.
Implant Dentures & All-on-4
For more extensive tooth loss, implant-supported dentures or an All-on-4 approach may be an option. In selected cases, a temporary prosthetic can be delivered the same day — this is evaluated individually, not guaranteed for every patient.
The Dental Implant Process
Consultation
Dr. Shulman looks at every aspect of your oral and overall health to make sure implants are right for you.
Preliminary Procedures
In some cases, separate treatment is needed beforehand — gum disease therapy, a bone graft, or extractions.
Implant Placement
Performed right in our office for convenience and continuity of care. It usually takes 1–2 hours per implant, with your comfort a top priority throughout.
Osseointegration
Implants generally take several months to fuse with the surrounding jawbone. In selected All-on-4 or Teeth-in-a-Day cases, a temporary prosthetic may be placed the same day — determined individually at your evaluation.
Restoration
The last step is having your implant restored with a single dental crown, bridge, or denture.

FAQ
Dental Implant Questions, Answered
How much do dental implants cost? +
Cost depends on how many teeth are being replaced, whether bone grafting is needed and which restoration you choose. During your evaluation we give you an exact, itemized plan and financing options before you decide anything.
Am I too old for dental implants? +
There is no upper age limit for implants. What matters is bone density, gum health and overall health, which we evaluate with a 3D scan and full exam.
How long does the dental implant process take? +
A single implant typically takes 3 to 6 months from placement to final crown, allowing time for osseointegration. Full-arch cases can be completed on an accelerated timeline in select cases. We map out your exact timeline at your evaluation.
Are dental implants painful? +
Most patients report less discomfort than expected. The procedure is done under local anesthesia, and most people return to normal activity within a day or two.
What is the difference between a single implant and All-on-4? +
A single implant replaces one missing tooth. All-on-4 uses four strategically placed implants to support a full arch of replacement teeth, ideal for patients missing most or all of their teeth in one jaw.
